I am a professional photographer in a small but rapidly growing town in Southern Maine, I would like to be able to make a difference in the life of a child and help my community in any small way I can. I have always had a passion for Photography and Art. And as a child it was the only thing that had gotten me through some pretty tough times. I would like to pass this passion for Art and Photography onto other children who may need a creative outlet as well.
This project will teach children to look at their community in a new way. It will spark some creativity in their hearts and get them to see even the most ordinary objects with a new perspective and appreciation. It will also let them create something AMAZING that they can take pride in. For some of these kids a new camera and a new found love for photography may be enough to point them in the right direction.
Each child will be given a camera to KEEP, with the hopes that they will continue to explore their artistic side even after the project is over. Each child will be taught how to use and care for their cameras and equipment. At the end of this project each child will have at least 1 or 2 of their images displayed in an exhibition to showcase their creativity & talent to their community,family and friends. Each child will be given a book of the images from their exhibition. Extra books will be on sale to the community to further fund more projects like this one. It is my hope that this project will be such a success in my community that people will want to continue to donate and keep it going for other groups of children.
Your donations will be used to purchase cameras and equipment for each of the children. As well as printing, matting,framing and exhibition costs. Your donations will also be used to fund the cost of renting an exhibition site and printing the books of the childrens images.
